More Interactive With Local Communities

Must read

The State Secretary, Datuk Amar Haji Abdul Aziz bin
Dato Haji Husain, urge all MAKSAK Divisions to organise activities that can
enhance the civil servants’ interaction with local communities.

There are such as recreation and community services.
Those things function as a basic tool for the civil servants and local
communities in order to understand each other’s aspirations.

During a dinner in conjunction with the official
opening of the Divisional Dart & Chess Competition for MAKSAK Sarawak held
in Miri last April, the State Secretary said that recreation and leisure
activities can be an excellent means for the civil servants to understand the
needs of local communities as well as increase rapport among them.

He added that social interaction plays an important
role in communicating the government’s development programmes to the people.

He commended MAKSAK’s sports activities noting that “a
healthy body will help produce brilliant and progressive minds among the civil
servants.”

The Sarawak Civil Service encourages its civil
servants to take part in sports and recreations, by providing them with
incentives such as sports facilities
and off the record leaves and extra
marks in their annual performance appraisal for staff who represent MAKSAK
Sarawak or agencies or other clubs to sporting competitions or events.

There are 159 participants form 12 teams representing
all MAKSAK Division.

The Dart and Chess Competition aimed to:

  • To attract and provide opportunities for Dart &
Chess enthusiasts to enjoy the sport
  • To select Chess and Dart Players to represent MAKSAK
Sarawak in the MAKSAK Malaysia Competition that will be held on 16 –18 June
2006 for Chess in Kuala Lumpur and 8 – 10 September 2006 for Dart in Kuala
    Lumpur.
  • To encourage civil servants to interact with each
    other while engaging sports activities.

Dart Origins

Some stories said that it started as an archery activity in Holland,
Europe. While a group of hunters took a break during hunting, they competed in
the skills of throwing the archery to a tree. From that moment, it started to
develop until it became modern dart sport today.

MAKSAK Programs 2006

MAKSAK Sarawak organised four activities for
Divisional Level. The first one was held in Sarikei the second one in Miri.
About 11 activities at club level will be held. MAKSAK also plans to join six
MAKSAK Malaysia activities all year round.
