A Busy Year for Asajaya District Office

The year of 2006 proved to be a busy one
for the Asajaya District Office. A total of 156 projects were implemented,
these being 70 Public Infrastructure Maintenance (PIA) projects, 76 Rural Basic
Infrastructure Development (PIAS) projects and 10 Village Road (PJK) projects.

Public Infrastructure Maintenance
(PIA) Projects

The PIA
projects that were carried out in 2006 ranged from infrastructure maintenance
and quality-improving measures towards government buildings, including:

  • The repairing of
    fences, guard houses, entrance/exit ways, floors, walls, roofs, rain-water
    flowage systems, toilets, water pipe systems, drains, sewage systems and roads
  • The
    repairing/rewiring of electrical systems (excluding air conditioners)

These
projects were designed to restore and improve the related buildings, giving
staff members and visitors a user-friendly atmosphere. Examples of government
buildings that underwent these repairs included schools such as SK Tg. Apong,
SK Tambirat, SK Moyan Laut, SK Haji Bujang Rangawan Putin, SK Jemukan as well
as the Asajaya Department of Agriculture, the Department of Irrigation and
Drainage and the Jemukan and Sambir Health Clinics. These projects amounted to
a total cost of RM 4.923 million, with the most expensive project costing RM
200 thousand.



Rural Basic Infrastructure
Development (PIAS) Projects

The PIAS
projects that were carried out in 2006 included:

  • The construction, repairing and improvement
    of small bridges, culverts/gabions, small jetties, drains and village and
    plantation roads

As part of the district office’s plan to provide basic
infrastructure amenities to the people of Asajaya, these projects helped to
develop numerous villages, including Kampung Beliong, Kampung Tambirat, Kampung
Sambir, Kampung Sebandi Ulu, Kampung Sebandi Matang, Kampung Iboi, Kampung Sg.
Putin and Kampung Sadong Jaya. The total cost for these projects reached a
total of RM 9.388 million, with the most expensive project costing RM 200
thousand.

Village
Road (PJK) Projects

The PJK projects
that were carried out in 2006 included:

  • The construction
    of new roads
  • The repairing
    and re-tarring of current roads

The
locations of these projects included Kampung Moyan Laut, Kampung Tambirat Cina,
Kampung Jaie, Kampung Jemukan and Asajaya Ulu as well as several other
locations within Asajaya. The objectives of the PJK projects were to create
road linkages for the villagers, enabling them to travel to and from the
various villages as well as providing a communication link amongst the
villages. The total cost for these projects reached a total of RM 1.43 million,
with the most expensive project costing RM 200 thousand.

As 2007
begins, there will undoubtedly be more projects in store for the Asajaya
District Office to plan and implement for the benefit of the people of Asajaya.
