Adapting to Globalisation

The Chief Minister, in an interview with RAKAN Sarawak (Nov/Dec
1994), noted that in the past, development was largely the efforts of the
public sector.

Now, through the programme of
privatisation, the private sector can be tapped to do business that provides
the benefits of development.

“We must look at efforts of the private sector to seek for opportunity
for profit or expansion in business as a situation which can open up a much
wider role for them to enhance the development of the country as a whole, even
in areas which used to be largely the responsibility of the government
previously,” he said.
