Privatising M-league Not Necessarily Best Solution

Must read

Privatising the Malaysian
Soccer League (M-League) is not necessarily the best solution to lift Malaysian
football out of the doldrums, said Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ahmad
Shabery Cheek, as quoted by BERNAMA.

He said it would take time and much effort to
raise the standard of Malaysian football.

"There are no short cuts to achieve our
objective to be a leading footballing nation. We have to find a formula that can
produce the best results," he told reporters after flagging participants
of the 2009 Ekiden International Run here Sunday (Putrajaya, 4 October 2009).

He was commenting on calls by the FA of
Malaysia for the M-League to be privatised to lift the sport in the country.

Malaysia, once a football powerhouse in the
region with archrivals being South Korea, now even have difficulty competing
against newcomers to the sport like Vietnam.
