Revellers at the Sarawak regatta 2011 will be treated to a special river parade to be held at the Sarawak River fronting the Kuching Waterfront on September 16 starting an about 8.00pm.
The event will also include the spectacular waterskiing acrobatics to be staged by the internationally famous team, the Stars of Florida.
So the crowd must not missed this opportunity to see the team members perform breathtaking acts including types of barefoot waterskiing imagineable!
The team is a professional waterski team that performs exhibition style showskiing as entertainment. The Stars of Florida have performed in many major cities of the world such as Japan, Jordan, Columbia, Turkey, India, Egypt, Las Vegas, Norway and other exciting locations.
The river event is held in conjunction with the Malaysia Day celebrations on that day whereby it will also be witnessed by the Head of State, Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Muhammad Salahuddin, Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and the other state dignitaries from the parade ground of the Dewan Undangan Negeri Building.
Other interesting activities that evening will include a river float by 48 colourful lighted boats, a stage show, dazzling laser lights and fireworks display.
Meanwhile, on Sept 15 and 16, the Information Department’s Pentarama group and the Ministry of Social Development and Urbanisation (KPSU) will entertain the crowd from 7pm onwards with varieties of songs and other performances respectively.
Malaysia Day is held on September 16 every year to commemorate the establishment of the Malaysia federation on the same date in 1963. It marked the joining together of Malaya, North Borneo (Sabah), Sarawak and Singapore to form Malaysia. Singapore later broke away and became in independent republic in 1965.
Beginning last year, September 16 is a national public holiday.
