KUCHING, 25 October 2011: Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (Sains) presented the Sains ICT Media Awards to members of media during their 20th Anniversary dinner at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching last night.
Safri Ali Othman was one of the nine members of the media, who won the Sains ICT Media Awards. His article titled “Kerajaan Elektronik – Percepatkan Proses Kerja, Tingkatkan Kecekapan dan Ketelusan” published in the Jan-Mar 2010 issue of RAKAN Sarawak, won 2nd Prize for the Bahasa Malaysia print category.
The other award categories include English print category and electronic category. For the print category, first prize winner received cash prize of RM1,000, followed by RM700 for second prize winner and RM300 for third prize winner. As for the electronic category, first prize winner received cash prize of RM2,000, followed by RM1,200 and RM800 for the second and the third prize winners respectively.
Chief Minister Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud who officiated the function, mentioned that SCORE would need hundreds of thousands of technical workers to fill the 52 percent of the 1.5 million jobs it created by 2030. Hence, he urged Sains to come up with more corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes that would attract rural youths to take up technical education.
Also present at the event were Taib’s wife Puan Sri Ragad Kurdi Taib, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr Alfred Jabu Numpang, Minister of Land Development Tan Sri Dr James Masing, Sains CEO Datuk Teo Tien Hiong, Sains Chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan and State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani.
