Kuching to Host 2nd International Energy Week 2012

Over 3,000 delegates and trade visitors in the energy and oil & gas industry are expected to converge at the 2^d International Energy Week (IEW) from 16-18 October 2012 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching. IEW 2012 is the biggest international power and petroleum event in East Malaysia and will include the Electro Power Asia 2012 Expo, Petroleum Asia 2012 Expo, International Energy Conference and Technology Symposium.

Themed ‘Energising Sustainable Transformation & Opportunities in Sarawak’ the event will be a major platform for industry players to explore the huge opportunities within the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy. This flagship event is hosted by the Sarawak State Government with the support of the Sarawak Convention Bureau.

Over 150 exhibitors including Sarawak Energy, Petronas, Tenaga Nasional, Nippon Oil, Sarawak Shell, ABB, Siemens, Sapura Kencana, Asia Minerals, Honeywell and Endress+Hauser will showcase the latest technologies and services in the power and petroleum industry. The main highlight of the exhibition will be the SCORE Pavilion where visitors can get updated on the latest developments and investment opportunities.

The International Energy Conference 2012 will be officiated by the Honorable Chief Minister, Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud while YB. Datuk Amer Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hassan, Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment, Minister of of Public Utilities and Minister of Industrial Development Sarawak will officiate at the closing ceremony. The conference will see atau panel of distinguished speakers Mr Adam Ritchie, Shell Trading & Shell Downstream, Dr Hardiv Situmeang, Executive Director of ASEAN Centre for Energy, Mr Anthony Jude, Director, Asian Development Bank, Mr Torstein Dale Sjotveit, Sarawak Energy, Datuk Ir Ahmad Fauzi bin Hassan, Chief Executive, Energy Commission, Malaysia and Mr Victonno S Bala, Secretary General, ASEAN Council on Petroleum.

Admission to the Exhibition is for trade and professionals including members of the civil service and students from institutions from higher learning.
