Recently, the Human Resource Unit of the Chief Minister’s Department invited Roshan Thiran, CEO of Leaderonomics to share his experience and views on leadership as part of the Leadership Talk Series at a local hotel on Tuesday, 30 June.
Titled “Inclusive Leadership: Unlocking Diverse Talents”, the talk was attended by officers (Grade 41 and above) of the Sarawak Civil Service, as well as guests that include Human Resources Unit director Dr Sabariah Putit and CEO of Centre for Modern Management Dr Razali Abon.
According to Roshan Thiran, leadership consists of two key elements: 1) Organisational Responsibility, which can be describe as the infrastructure provided by an organisation ranging from leadership programmes to supportive working environment; and 2) Individual Motivations, which essentially is the employee’s effort in honing his or her leadership skills.
In others words, it is up to the individual to push him or herself by learning, understanding and utilising lessons learnt from leadership-related programmes, as well as gaining more experience within and outside the working environment in order to become better leaders of tomorrow.
