Construction for the 32.7 km single carriageway connecting villages in Telok Melano area and Sematan town is expected to take 39 months and will be completed by December 2018 at an estimated cost of RM700 million.
Upon completion, this section of the highway is to become a strategic route as well as provide comfort and safe travel to road users, subsequently contributing to the development of the area, especially in eco-tourism.
It will also benefit villagers from Kampung Telok Melano and Kampung Teluk Serabang; presently only able to travel to Sematan by sea.
More than 5,000 people from Lundu area attended the event, which was held at Sematan town itself.
