The briefing, organised by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, will also be held at a hotel this afternoon and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) later tonight.
The Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) is a free trade agreement that is open to all 21 member nations of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). The agreement aims to strengthen economic relations between participating countries, reduce tariffs, and enhance growth by encouraging trade.
Negotiations have been finalised for 12 of them, namely the United States, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, Brunei, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Peru and Malaysia.
For Malaysia, the TPPA is expected to be presented at the Dewan Rakyat on 27 January to decide on the country’s participation to the pact.
