The 15th International Peat Congress will be held from 15 to 19 August 2016 (Monday to Friday), with the opening ceremony expected to take place on 16 August.

Themed “Peatlands in Harmony-Agriculture, Industry & Nature”, it is organised by the Malaysian Peat Society (MPS) in partnership with the International Peatland Society (IPS).

The congress will feature paper presentations related to an integrated global perspective for the responsible use of peatlands and the preservation of their unique dynamics and natural biodiversity, while acting as a platform for researchers, academics and practitioners to congregate, share information and discuss their scientific results and experiences with particular reference to peat and peatlands in the tropics.

This is the first time the quadrennial event is being held outside the United States and Europe.
