PPA Signing Ceremony Between SEB & MPAS

Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) Group Chief Executive Officer YBhg Datuk Torstein Dale Sjotveit signs the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) documents (seated left) with Malaysian Phosphate Additives Sarawak (MPAS) Sdn Bhd Managing Director Lim Lee Wan (seated right). The PPA agreement between both companies is for the supply of 150 megawatt (MW) to power MPAS’ integrated phosphate complex which is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.

Development of the complex itself at Samalaju Industrial Park, Bintulu is worth RM1.9 billion and is scheduled to become operational in 2018, generating about 1,200 job opportunities of various posts including project supervisors, engineers, administrators, accountants, logistics, general workers and other roles to support its operation.

MPAS is a joint venture company between Malaysian Phosphate Ventures Sdn Bhd, Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad through its wholly-owned subsidiary Samalaju Industries Sdn Bhd, and Arif Enigma Sdn Bhd, an investment holding company.

Also present were Minister of Public Utilities & Industrial Development and Second Minister of Resource Planning YB Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, State Secretary YB Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Morshidi Abdul Ghani and Chairman of MPAS YBhg Datuk Syed Ahmad Alwee Alsree, among others.
