Yayasan Sarawak is expected to play a vital role in ensuring human capital development for Sarawak’s economic growth, more so as the State is transforming through the digital economy.
In his speech during the 25th Sarawak Chief Minister’s Special Awards that was held at the New Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Building, Kuching on 3rd November 2017, Chief Minister YAB Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg elaborated the foundation’s role through measures discussed during his recent meeting with board members.
This included identifying new courses and disciplines that would meet the State’s transformation; utilising data of previous scholarship recipients and their professions for job creation; and engage with these recipients in enabling them to contribute to the State development.
These were a few of many measures the Chief Minister hoped would be able to provide a platform for Sarawakians to work in their home state instead of seeking for greener pastures outside by providing them better social and economic opportunities.
Meanwhile, the award is an annual event that recognises school administrators, teachers and students that have shown continuous excellence and valuable contribution in various education fields.
