On 6 July 2018, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, YB Datuk Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, gave a speech at a media conference in Hilton Kuching hotel.

Joining him was Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Hii Chang Kee, Executive Director of Miss World Organization Steve Douglas Morley, crowned winner of Miss World 2016 Stephanie Del Valle, and Official Licensee of Mr and Miss World Malaysia 2018 Sean Wong.

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports is supporting Miss World Malaysia 2018 to promote its “Beauty With A Purpose” charity mission, with the event’s charity gala and coronation night held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia on 8 September 2018.
