The Sarawak Disaster Relief Storage Depot can store 432 tonnes of supplies to cater to the needs of 30,000 disaster victims
Since 2019, a 1251-square-metre depot in Muara Tuang, Samarahan has been in operation to strengthen disaster relief management in Sarawak.
The Sarawak Disaster Relief Storage Depot was constructed in 2017 at a cost of RM5.78 million and is under the management of the Department of Social Welfare Sarawak.
The depot has a storage capacity of 432 tonnes of supplies to meet the various needs of up to 30,000 disaster victims, including mattresses, blankets, bath towels, disposable diapers and individual hygiene kits.
Supplies from this depot will then be distributed to relief centres across Sarawak, particularly in areas heavily affected by floods throughout the Northeast Monsoon season (October-March).
As it is always committed to enhancing the well-being of those in disaster-prone areas, the Sarawak Government will continue to provide sufficient disaster relief supplies in preparation for natural hazards that might impact the State.
