Those interested in working as delivery riders for any food delivery companies such as Grab Food or Foodpanda may apply to TEKUN Nasional for a special loan facility
The Covid-19 pandemic has seen an increase in the number of delivery riders and service providers throughout the country.
According to the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC), YB Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, the increment of various food delivery services or ‘rider’ has increased by as much as 300 per cent in the country.
In relation to this, the Tabung Ekonomi Kumpulan Usaha Niaga (TEKUN) Nasional also provided motorcycle loan financing to individuals planning to work as delivery riders.
The TEKUN Nasional is providing special loan facility up to RM10,000 to those interested to work as delivery riders for any food delivery companies.
Those interested may get TEKUN Nasional financing application form from any TEKUN Nasional Regional Offices.
As of now, 200 riders have benefited from it.
In addition to this, MEDAC will develop a delivery app similar to Grab Food and Foodpanda.
According to YB Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi, the delivery app would cover various services, including food, goods as well as agriculture, fishery and livestock products specifically from rural areas to the towns, to facilitate transactions between buyers and sellers.
He added that in Sarawak, there are groups delivering agriculture, fishery and livestock products but it’s not as widespread.
However, there are not enough riders to cater to the higher demands.
