Tap Opportunity for Nation-Building

Must read

art-322-01

People need social and financial opportunities to succeed.

Opportunities are the means that help us climbing the Maslow (1954) hierarchy of needs pyramid. Maslow hierarchy of needs divided into basic (or lack) needs (for example physiological, safety, love, and esteem) and growth needs (cognitive, aesthetics and self-actualisation).

One must satisfy lower level basic needs before progressing on to meet higher level growth needs.

Once these needs reasonably satisfied, one may be able to reach the highest level called self-actualisation.

Each person is capable and has the wish to move up the hierarchy toward self-actualisation.

Unfortunately, progress often disrupted by failure to meet lower level needs.

Opportunity very much relate to empowerment.

Empowerment means people and communities both have the opportunity and the ability to take part effectively in social, economic and political spheres.

Empowerment implies a unique stress on redressing inequities in voice, choice, and access across parts of the local population.

Opportunities sometimes not equally available to all.

Differences in social status may give some people less opportunity than others for voice and choice related to improving the quality of their lives.

Rules and processes needed to increase the opportunities available to all groups, especially those often marginalised  to take part effectively in local affairs.

Empowered people are both better granted with the resources that enable them to satisfy their needs and better able to take part in the arenas of governance and markets through which they can continue to improve their lives.

We have to accept, admit and recognise the cultural and evolutionary difference of the races and this would bring the nation into a collective stage of coexistence where the people live in harmony in tolerance to the other races in the country.

The collaboration stage is the United Malaysia phase where everything negotiated through social justice and economic equality parameters lacks of inequitable race based policies in managing the country.

The government recognise our role in nation-building to further develop our community and country.

We are in one big society that will be able to help others and contribute to nation-building.

The government has good policies but it lies in all of us to tap the opportunity.
