Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Child Development YB Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah announced that in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, this year Sarawak State Women’s Day celebration will be with only have 250 guests in attendance
The theme chosen for this year’s Sarawak State Women’s Day will be ‘Sarawak Women in the Digital Era’.
This year, the State Women’s Day celebration will be held at the Borneo Kuching Convention Centre (BCCK) on 29th August 2020.
Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Child Development YB Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah said that the theme was chosen to recognize the role and contribution of Sarawak women in the digital field as well as to prepare Sarawak women for the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
As this year’s celebration will be held during the recovery movement control order (RMCO), YB Dato Sri Fatimah said that there will only 250 people invited to attend the event.
The event will be officiated by the Sarawak Chief Minister YAB Datuk Patinggi (Dr.) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg.
During the event, YB Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah added that 100 participants from 40 districts would be able to join a session with the chief minister via live-streaming.
Various awards such as the Datuk Patinggi Laila Taib Award, Chief Minister’s Award for Women Social Workers, Chief Minister’s Award for Women Entrepreneurs, Chief Minister’s Award for Women Leadership and Chief Minister’s Special Achievement (Digital) Award and the Outstanding Women Organisation Award will be given to recipients during the event.
