PM Visits Kuching District Vaccination Centre

As part of his two-day official working visit to Kuching, Prime Minister YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Haji Muhyiddin bin Haji Mohd Yassin visited the Kuching District Vaccination Centre at Stadium Perpaduan, Petra Jaya on 1 April 2021.

He was accompanied by Chief Minister YAB Datuk Patinggi Dr Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Deputy Chief Minister and Sarawak Disaster Management Committee Chairman YB Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Chief Minister YB Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, and Minister for Local Government and Housing YB Prof Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, among other guests of honour.

During the visit, he was briefed by State Health Department Director Dr Chin Zin Hing on the progress of the COVID-19 vaccination drive in Sarawak.

He then went round the vaccination centre where the first phase of the drive involving the inoculation of front-liners was under way, before ending his visit with a photo op with the guests of honour.

Sarawak COVID-19 vaccination drive took off with the first phase on 27 February 2021. The second phase, which prioritises the elderly and people with co-morbidities, is expected to commence on 19 April 2021. The Sarawak Government aims to vaccinate more than two million people in the State by August 2021, ahead of the national target by some four months.
