The reason of delay for the construction of Penom/ Ulu Bayor/ Danau Road (Phase 1) includes land acquisition (which has been resolved), the CMCO period that was affecting mobilization of machineries from Sibu to the site, the weather (rainy season), insufficient machineries and the termination of previous sub-contractors due to poor performance at the early stage.
As for Ulu Paku/ Ulu Gerenjang/ Ulu Krian/ Ulu Kota Road (Phase 1), the reason for delays is also due to poor performance of previous contractor.
According to Chiresly, the 6.9-kilometre Ulu Paku/ Ulu Gerenjang/ Ulu Krian/ Ulu Kota Road is meant to link two major roads in Betong which are Ulu Rimbas and Ulu Paku Road.
“We have spoken with the contractors and they have come up with a new construction team and according to them, they have already mobilised the new team to site and if the weather permits, they should be able to complete the project by this year,” he said.
