The Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK) seeks as its vision and mission to assist women in becoming economically independent and contributing to their families’ livelihoods.
The OSCC (One Stop Collection Centre) acts as a hub for gathering, packaging, marketing, and promotion of all products as a result of the ministry’s efforts to empower women in micro-entrepreneurs.
By 2030, Sarawak is expected to be a major exporter of food, and the OSCC makes sure that its goods can contribute to that goal.
Non-perishable goods such as handmade crafts and frozen foods shall be kept in the OSCC. Following that, these products will either be rewrapped for sale or reconditioned to create consumer goods.
The OSCC also keeps products in stock before sorting them, and the hub utilizes a special lab to make sure that only high-quality products are delivered to consumers.
Thus, ready stock goods will ensure a continuous supply for customers and expected the entrepreneurs will occasionally grow to ensure adequate supply to fulfil the market demand.
The hub will be under the supervision of the Sarawak Women and Family Department (JWKS) and the Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKMS).
JWKS offers a variety of programmes to enhance women’s entrepreneurship skills and achieve other essential benchmarks. There are four (4) courses provided under Women Skills Training (WST) namely stitching, culinary, beauty and spa & massage.
The JWKS also offered the target group, the head of women and/or single mother who were Sarawak female entrepreneurs 18 years of age and over, support from the Ketua Isi Rumah Wanita Sarawak (KIRWaS) for RM500.00.
This assistance is to improve the standard of living so that these targets can be self -reliant in order to sustain household duties.
Additionally, the JKMS offers grants up to RM 10,000.00 with frequent agency oversight and monitoring of the recipients’ business development.
Next, the focus of OSCC is on digital marketing and promotion activities that can reach the international market.
KPWK intends to guarantee that the promotion of the products offered by OSCC is carried out across a variety of digital media channels, and purchases can be made using the Grab, FoodPanda applications and so on.
The establishment of OSCC seeks to promote its initiatives not only in Sarawak but also in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and worldwide through digitalization.
Electronic and online payments are also implemented by entrepreneurs at OSCC and are certainly SarawakPay will be used.
The expected cost of establishing the OSCC is RM14 million and the ministry is currently in the process of appointing Project Management Operator (PMO) for the OSCC operation.
The process of identifying eligible entities is a challenge in the OSCC’s establishment in order to fulfil its purpose of empowering women micro-entrepreneurs.
In addition, these entrepreneurs will be exposed to appropriate training and courses to highlight the goods produced to be comparable to the product globally.
The ministry hopes that more (from the target group) demographic will find themselves to escape the poverty cocoon and earn a living independently in future through the founding of OSCC.
