Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) continues its unwavering commitment in upholding a culture of integrity in its establishment by launching STB Integrity Policies Book at its Integrity Day 2023 which was held on 7th December 2023 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
The book, officiated and launched by the Guest of Honour, YB Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP), encompasses the Due Diligence Policy and Conflict of Interest Policy, which serves as a clear embodiment of STB’s unwavering expectation for employees to diligently adhere to these guidelines in their day-to-day operations. It is a compass guiding daily activities, fostering a steadfast commitment to ethical decision-making.
YB Abdul Karim said that the achievements that Sarawak has garnered today is a result of a continuous commitment and ingrained adherence to integrity from both the public and private sector, and hope that continues efforts are made to inculcate a culture of integrity covering all sectors of the government, and the society as a whole.
“I applaud the Sarawak Tourism Board’s efforts in promoting and upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency and accountability within its organization. As we commemorate STB’s Integrity Day 2023, this occasion is a profound acknowledgement of the values that serve as the bedrock of STB,” he added.
STB’s CEO, Puan Sharzede Datu Hj. Salleh Askor, underscores the significance of Integrity Day and the book launch as an integral aspect in promoting the values of integrity, and to emphasize STB’s expectation that employees adhere to these guidelines in their daily operations as every employee, whether in a leadership role or as a team member, plays a crucial part in upholding the agency’s commitment to integrity,” she added.
STB Integrity Day 2023 is a proactive initiative designed to heighten employees’ awareness, equipping them with the knowledge and resources needed for ethical decision-making while comprehending the consequences of unethical behaviour. This event aligns with several objectives, including fostering transparency in actions and decision-making processes, creating an open communication environment, and fortifying STB’s integrity against the potential influence of personal interests.
