After several discussions, the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) has delegated the authority to Director of Education Department Sarawak to approve projects funded by Sarawak Government.
Authority is also given to the Director for other projects not funded by Sarawak Government but with prior concurrence by Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak (MEITD).
This is considered a major step forward by MOE as a result of several discussions between MEITD and MOE on the subject of MA63, particularly Paragraph 17 of the IGC Report 1962.
All this while authority to approve projects, even though funded by Sarawak Government lies with MOE in Putrajaya.
This has caused delays in the approval process and hence the implementation of the projects.
Projects under RTP, MRP and other minor projects approved by the local representatives or ADUNs were delayed, much to the disappointment not only to the ADUNs but also to the beneficiaries of the projects, in this case students, parents and teachers. ADUNs are very well-known for providing assistance through their annual RTP and MRP allocations to schools and other educational institutions.
With this delegation of authority, delays in approval of projects will be a thing of the past.
Document delegating the authority to Datu Dr. Hj. Azhar Bin Ahmad the Director of JPNS was handed over by Datuk Indera Nik Nasarudin Bin Mohd. Zawawi, the Secretary Generalof the Ministry of Education Malaysia.
