In the course of a lifetime, an individual will gather environmental knowledge from integration of school, the media, personal reading, family members and friends, outdoor activities, entertainment outlets, and a wide range of other professional and personal experiences.

Most of us believe we know more about the environment than we actually do.

Then he must can practice it in the form of behaviour that can help reduce environmental problem such as the practice of recycling to reduce garbage dumping, carpooling to reduce air pollution and so on.

An environmentally literate society is one where everyone has the understanding, skills and motivation to make responsible decisions that consider her or his relationships to natural systems, communities and future generations.

Building environmental literacy takes time and ongoing commitment and are closely aligned with other educational priorities.

Environmental literacy will lead to achieving a more sustainable environment and sustainable development.

Sustainable development and its influences are key issues in the environmental field. Sustainable development concerns both human and natural systems, It dynamically interdependent and cannot be considered in isolation in order to resolve critical issues.

Environmental literacy in science and other disciplines is important because it enhances the protection of nature.
