As Betong’s status was upgraded to that of an administrative division, the districts in the Division are seeing new developments, such as better amenities and utilities, taking place.
One such district is Saratok which now has a new Water Treatment Plant benefiting 53,000 users.
Located at Nanga Lichok in Saratok, the plant is able to increase water production capacity in the Saratok district from 12 MLD (million litre per day) to 24 MLD.
The Water Plant is designed to provide water needs of the residents of Roban, Nyabor, Grigat, Sessang, Empelam, and Kabong and along the road of Nyabor-Selalang and Saratok town until 2015.
The new water plant is also equipped with pipe extension to Saratok, Roban, Nyabor and the surrounding areas.
Previously, Saratok only had three water plants that were able to provide only 3.47 MLD for Saratok Town, while the Kabong Water Plant and Roban Water Plant only provided 0.65 MLD for Kabong, Roban, Nyabor, Grigat, Sessang and Empelam.
