As part of its vision towards the green economy and sustainable development, Malaysia is now aiming for the creation of up to 10,000 green entrepreneurs for the next two years.

Ministry of Environment and Water, through the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Centre (MGTC), intends to achieve this through the introduction of Jana Graduan Hijau (Jaguh) in the third quarter of 2020.

Elaborating on this initiative, Deputy Minister of Environment and Water Datuk Dr Ahmad Masrizal Muhammad says that Jaguh will provide participants the necessary training to become green entrepreneurs.

The ministry is particularly targeting graduates who have been struggling to find employment due to the impact brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is our hope that those who undergo the Jaguh initiative will be able to set up their own businesses or work with the numerous schemes under the ministry. This is important as we move towards green economy,” the deputy minister states.
