Values are important in forging a more efficient and effective service-oriented Civil Service. They also serve as a moral compass and guide in its decision-making.
On 24 March 2009 YAB Datuk Patinggi Mohd. Najib Tun Abdul Razak outlined eight (8) values for success:
- TEAMWORK. Achieving more as a team across boundaries.
- DISCIPLINE-Vital to ensure the many parts adhere to the norms of the whole organisation.
- DILIGENCE. Consistently getting the job done to meet the increased expectations of customers and stakeholders.
- RESPECT FOR TIME. Punctuality and precision in all undertakings.
- HONOURING ONE'S WORD. Integrity and commitment in relationships with internal and external clients.
- DEDICATION TO WORK. Work as a calling to make a difference in the lives of the rakyat.
- EFFICIENCY IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF TASKS. What gets measured gets done.
- PLACEMENT OF THE LARGER COMMUNITY ABOVE SELF. Society before self as the benchmark of success.
