Creative 8 of the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC), Mukah are among the 20 finalists for this year’s state-level Innovation and Creative Circle (ICC) convention held in Kuching from Wednesday until Thursday, 30 September through 1 October.
This year, the introduction of a new stage design is a new feature for this term’s convention. Creative 8 were one of the first few teams to present their project aimed at shortening time taken to identify wood species.
The two-day convention is participated by nine technical and 11 administrative groups representing various government agencies across all three zones in Sarawak – southern, central and northern region.
The ICC convention is part of a series of events initiated by the government to inculcate the spirit of creativity and innovation within the civil service. It is held in conjunction with the 2014 Innovation Week announced by the State Secretary YB Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani earlier this morning during a press conference.
Amongst the participating agencies and departments at the convention were Kuching Water Board, Land and Survey Department, Department of Agriculture and others. The winners will be announced during an awards presentation ceremony on Friday, 3 October.
