The newly established Centre of Technical Excellence (CTE), among other technical institutions in Sarawak, is poised to produce highly-skilled workforce in light of the demands of various industries in Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE).
The building was launched yesterday by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud at Jalan Sultan Tengah, Rampangi, Santubong. The CTE building was established by Yayasan Sarawak since 1973, is formerly known as Youth Development Centre.
The State Secretary, YB Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, who is also CTE Chairman said past studies had indicated there was a large disparity between the demand and supply of local skilled workforce.
CTE adopts a philosophy of collaborative approach, as the State Secretary highlights that the centre adopts a 3Cs philosophy which stands for Competencies in industrial standards; Creativity in its curricula and Community engagement at large.
Accompanying the Head of State at the opening ceremony were his wife, Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib, Chief Minister YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Haji Adenan Haji Satem, and his wife, YBhg Datin Patinggi Hajjah Jamilah Anu, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Alfred Jabu, State Secretary YB Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani and Director of Yayasan Sarawak YBhg Datu Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
