Themed “Towards a Vibrant and Progressive Rural Economy”, the workshop (28-30 September 2016) aimed to obtain a clearer understanding of critical issues and factors affecting the rural economy; identify key commodities, industries and economic activities; evaluate and adapt existing development models and approaches suitable for immediate adoption; and develop the framework for new development models that can accelerate rural economic transformation in the State.
More than 100 participants consisting of various stakeholders, ranging from State and Federal agencies, private sector and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) attended the workshop, which was organised by MOARE and supported by Sarawak Development Institute (SDI).
