Empowering women through entrepreneurship

Must read

As a long term plan to help participants of Wisma Wanita Training Centre (WWTC) and entrepreneurs in rural and urban areas to market their products to a wider audience outside Sarawak, a collection centre will be set up within three years.

According to Minister of Welfare, Women and Community Wellbeing YB Datuk Hajah Fatimah Abdullah, the collection centre will be used to display both perishable and non-perishable goods of the entrepreneurs in Sarawak, whereby the main idea is to collect, package, label and market the products using online marketing apart from using the traditional method.

“We are estimating to build and operate the collection centre within three years, so in the meantime, we will have a mini one at WWTC for the purpose of displaying good for exhibition or sale, apart from the Women Resource Centre,” said YB Datuk Fatimah in her speech during the closing ceremony of ‘Women in Digital Entrepreneurship’ Course on July 19.

During the three days training course, the participants were exposed on various ways to market their products or service through digital methods so that they can reach a bigger market and wider audience.

Through the participation on the training courses such as sewing, beauty, cooking as well as spa and treatment course offered at WWTC, the participants will be equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to be entrepreneurs either through providing service or producing product to customers.

By empowering women to be entrepreneurs, YB Datuk Fatimah said that they would help them be more financially independent and increase their income in the future.
