The private sector has expressed their support in the Sarawak State Government’s move towards the digital economy.
Chief Minister YAB Datuk Amar Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg said this during a press conference on his dialogue session with industry and business leaders on the State digital economy at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Kuching on 19 September 2017.
“They are willing to collaborate and extend their assistance in order to realise our objective to transform our economy to be an efficient economy, and to generate high income to Sarawak and its people,” he elaborated.
He also revealed the private sector’s concerns in relation to Sarawak digital economy, namely human capital, infrastructure, the urban-rural gap, and product and service innovation.
Attended by 60 people from public and private sectors, the dialogue session was held for the Chief Minister to discuss with industry and business leaders with regards to the State Government’s digital economy initiatives, as well as obtaining their feedback and input.
State Secretary YB Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi Haji Abdul Ghani kicked off the session by sharing the State Government’s digital economy blueprint for socio-economic transformation.
He also shared on the State Government moving towards ‘rule-based’ governance, principles, policies, processes and procedures in driving the digital economy, as well as the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) that is expected to be tabled in the upcoming State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting in November 2017.
Its scope covers Centre of Excellence, Digital Government, Digital Village, Talent Development, Digital Infrastructure, Cybersecurity and e-Commerce.
