The Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKMS) has introduced 13 signature programmes under its new strategic plan for 2018 to 2020.
Minister of Welfare Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood YB Datuk Hajah Fatimah Abdullah said that among the focus of the programme includes getting more community members to be on board with volunteerism through one of the ‘Signature’ programme by engaging more of the community members to become volunteers in helping out the disadvantaged and the needy.
“The long term roadmap for JKMS is moving forward in 2018 and beyond…with innovation, entrepreneurial spirit and strategic partnering in providing its services and in effecting its delivering system….to ensure better outreach, and greater impact on socio economic wellbeing of the needy and the disadvantaged,” said YB Datuk Hajah Fatimah.
According to YB Datuk Hajah Fatimah, under the new strategic plan, JKMS has enacted 10 strategic objectives for four main functions, which are social harmony, economic development, rehabilitation and legal, management and strategic development.
Among the 10 strategic objectives 2018-2020 includes improving the well-being of the needy community, improving the quality in delivering disaster relief services, increase the responsibility of the community in welfare services and increase the independence of clients that are still productive.
To reach the 10 strategic objectives, YB Datuk Hajah Fatimah said that the 13 ‘Signature’ programmes which will be introduced and implemented this year according to their capacity or the approved budget.
