Bringing New Elements and Approach in Coaching Methods

Coaches are advised to be more scientific and to adapt their old ways to bring new elements in their coaching routines.

“Perhaps we should look at the human resources and see if there should be new elements that can be introduced so that these sports will start to produce,” said representing Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports Sarawak YB Datuk Snowdan Lawan.

His speech was delivered by co-chairperson of the 5th International Seminar on Sports & Exercise Psychology committee and Director of Teachers’ Institute of Tun Abdul Razak Campus Hamsiah Abdullah Masni during the closing ceremony of 5th International Seminar on Sports & Exercise Psychology 2018 on February 7th.

According to Hamsiah, concerted efforts and collaboration between various sports association together with the Sarawak Sports Corporation, the Sarawak Sports Council, the National Sports Institute Satellite Centre Sarawak and the higher learning institute are needed to identify the problem areas and issues in various sports.

The problems identified can be provided to universities and colleges where it can be used as research problems that need be looked into.

“Findings based on these researches will be very useful to the coaches and athletes as it would be directly related to their situation,” said Hamsiah.

“Hence, closing working relationships between sports agencies and institutions of higher learning should not be limited to when we want to organise seminars and conferences, but extend into the actual operation and running of sports,” she said.

Taking place from February 6th to 7th at Kuching, the fifth edition of the sport psychology seminar focused on the contribution of sports psychology in improving the performance and developing athletes and non-athletes as it covers a broad range of research and applied topics by the keynote and invited speakers of various related fields.
