In the effort to add more vibrancy to the city, many can expect to see more attractions and facilities being upgraded around Kuching.
During the Chap Goh Meh Festival which took place at Gambier Street, Kuching on March 3rd, Sarawak Chief Minister YAB Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg said that among the plans to add attraction around the city includes developing a walkway around Kuching such as all the way from the Brooke Dockyard connecting to Kampung Masjid and Kampung Bintagor.
Apart from that, this year, the State also plans to develop a water show in front of the Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) building.
According to YAB Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari, an allocation has been set aside for the water show project.
In addition, he also said that there are also plans to open a Tea House Restaurant in Fort Margherita, with a cascading artificial waterfall near the tea house.
“This is a real transformation, where we will protect and preserve our heritage while at the same time modernising the facilities for the tourists and the people coming over to visit the city of Kuching,” said YAB Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari.
Themed ‘Celebration of Prosperity in Diversity’, the Chap Goh Meh festival was organised by Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara (DBKU) in collaboration with The Federation of Chines Association Kuching, Samarahan & Serian Division, Federation of Kuching Division Community Association, Dewa Perdagangan dan Perindustrian Cina Kuching, Persekutuan Kebajikan Perniagaan Indian Muslim, Kuching Old Market Community Association, The Waterfront Hotel and Plaza Merdeka Management Sgn.
