Digital Economy Hub as a Way To Promote Digital Technology in Kuching

In respond to the call of the Sarawak Chief Minister YAB Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg to promote digital technology, a Digital Economy Hub (DEH) has been set up in Kuching.

“The DEH is set up to promote digital technology education and also the adoption of digital technology by the business industry,” said CEO of DEH Eddie Wee during an ASEAN Ambassador Visit to the hub at Kuching on March 3rd.

“This is also in respond to the call of the Chief Minister for digital economy transformation and it all starts from education,” he said adding that they are aiming to develop more DEH to attract talents around the State.

The DEC is a private sector initiative initiated by FAME International Group as a center for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematic (S.T.E.A.M) and commercial application.

With 1, 022 square meter of area, the DEH has high Wifi coverage and speed fiber backbone, contemporary technology demonstration and experiencing gallery, 3D printing lab, Makers Lab, Fabrication Lab, Training Area, robotic arms lab, robotic installation and programming as well as a Virtual Reality (VR) studio.

Since its opening in November last year, DEH has also help in setting up and creating S.T.E.A.M clubs in schools and also conducted various training programmes with students as well as organising monthly robotics competitions.
